Servatius Bikepacking Weekend
Servatius Bikepacking Weekend
A 3 day gravel ride around Maastricht

About

Ride, eat, sleEp, repeat

The Servatius Bikepacking Weekend is a 3 day self-supported gravel adventure starting & finishing in Maastricht, The Netherlands.

You will enjoy beautiful gravel roads, dirt tracks, adventurous campsites, good food, cold beer and amazing company.

The 2024 edition of the Servatius Bikepacking Weekend will be organized from Friday September 6th till Sunday September 8th 2024.

This year’s route will go back to the roots of the first Servatius edition by visiting the Belgium Ardennes, German Eiffel & Dutch Heuvelland. The total route is a bit over 300km, nicely spaced over 3 days. The start & finish are both in the historical city of Maastricht.

The adventure is a fully self-supported bikepacking ride aimed at beginner & intermediate bikepackers. It is definitely not a race, so feel free to ride alone or team up with your fellow bike packers. Sharing a cold drink afterwards is always encouraged. And since the ride is self supported, make sure to bring reliable mechanical gear. You will also have to carry your own camping equipment and additional food & water. What we will do for you? The organization will provide you with a GPX file of the full route, senic camping locations & a hot meal on day 1 & 2.

When

  • Departure: September 6th, 10:00, exact location to be announced

  • Finish: September 8th at Maastricht Saint Pietersberg.

Camping

After a long day in the saddle, you'll finish at a lovely campsite where we will set up camp for the night. The camping locations will be beautiful and have some basic facilities like running water, toilets and a few showers.

Since this is a Bikepacking weekend you'll need to carry all your gear including a tent or bivvy bag on your bicycle. The organisation cannot offer any luggage transportation (as we’re riding ourselves as well!).

Route

The 2024 route will revisit the highlights of the previous editions and some exciting new sections.

Expect daily distances between 90 - 130 km with a maximum ascent of 1500m per day. The routes follow mostly senic gravel roads and forest tracks away from tarmac and traffic. A gravel bike or mountainbike is most suitable for this event.

Ride character

How you go through the days is completely up to you, so you can take the occasional coffee and lunch break. We’ve made sure the route passes a number of villages with supermarkets, bars & restaurants each day. When you reach your campspot at the end of each stage, we will make sure a hot meal and a cold beer is waiting for you. The route will not be signposted, so the organization will provide a GPX track a few days before the start.

Food & drinks

Each night a simple, but very nutritious hot meal will be provided to all participants (vegetarian option possible). Don't forget to bring your own plate, mug and utensils!

We will also offer unlimited hot water at the camping location to prepare coffee, tea or breakfast. In the afternoon and evening we sell a few cold beers & soda’s to enjoy after a long day in the saddle.

All other food & drink's you will need during the weekend (breakfast, lunch, snack) should be taken care of by yourself. There are no cooking facilities at the campsites, but we do provide you with boiled water for things like oatmeal or instant noodles.

The route will regularly pass through towns with supermarkets & restaurants where you can resupply.

Costs & registration

The costs of entry, which includes a.o. the costs for the campsites, 2 hot meals and the GPX routes is €125 (exc. service fee) per person.
